What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic purposes and behavioural change.  It works on the principle that trance is a naturally occurring state which we engage in several times each day such as when we’re driving a familiar route or doing routine tasks.  In this relaxed state, the mind is more open to suggestion, and positive suggestions for behavioural change are most likely to be accepted by the subconscious mind.  With hypnotherapy a person can be helped to facilitate a similar state of mental and physical relaxation to gain insight into problems and bring about beneficial change.

Contrary to popular myth, hypnosis does mean that the therapist has control of your mind.  The client is fully aware at all times, although physically and mentally relaxed.  There is no question of revealing one’s deepest secrets or behaving out of character
